Coach Chance

Coach Chance

Chance Hobson, age 35, of Gainesville, GA, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012. He was born in Connecticut on May 16, 1976 to Wendell and Robin Hobson and grew up on a farm in the Connecticut countryside and with family in California.

He graduated from Germantown High School, Germantown, TN and from Purdue University in 1999 in the College of Engineering as a Mechanical Engineer. At Purdue he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon where he was Vice President of the Fraternity.

Known for his quick wit and playful demeanor, Chance enjoyed living life in North Georgia. He had received his private pilot’s license and enjoyed his boat with family and friends on Lake Lanier. You could often find him on a summer evening wake-boarding across the lake, where he also found great peace.

After working for several large firms, including Siemens Energy and Automation, he enjoyed his career at MESH Engineering in Cumming, as a mechanical engineer, where he shared many important friendships. This season, Chance began coaching the U-13 team for the North Forsyth Youth Lacrosse Association and looked forward to sharing his years of lacrosse experience from high school and college with local teenagers.

Chance is survived by his mother, Robin Hobson; father, Wendell Hobson; sister, Karri Hobson-Pape and brother-in-law, Pierce Pape. He was a wonderful uncle to Parker and Sierra Pape who loved him dearly and always looked forward to his playful jokes.

In lieu of flowers, those that wish may make contributions by mailing a check  to the North Forsyth Youth Lacrosse Association (NFYLA) Chance Hobson Memorial Fund at:  Bank 2659 Freedom Parkway #113 Cumming, GA 30041. Or visit a local Regions Bank and mention you are making a donation to the Chance Hobson Memorial Fund.

NOTE: You may also contact members of the NFYLA Board to find out how and where make donations.
